Pay Range: $26/hr-$33/hr; DOE
The DMV Clerk will be responsible for the process of titling and registration documents related to all retail sales of new and used vehicles. The DMV Clerk performs a wide range of administrative and office support duties associated with vehicle documentation, such as titles, registrations, licenses. This includes but is not limited to verifying costs for the accounting department, including the costs of reconditioning and equipment add-ons, and handles the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The DMV Clerk interacts daily with Sales Associates, Sales Managers, General Sales Managers, other dealership staff and most importantly, our customers.
Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
- Detail oriented, quick learners, have excellent computer and research skills, and enjoy solving problems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2+ Years of DMV experience, 4+ years of office/clerical experience
- Organizational and time management skills
- Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor
- Able to carefully deal with confidential information
- Professional and dependable
- Computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Extremely detail oriented
- Excellent customer service skills
- Positive attitude
- Quick learner
Responsibilities:
- Process vehicle registrations and title transfers
- Examine and confirm vehicle titling and corresponding paperwork and chain of ownership documents for accuracy.
- Assess all documents for potential fraud.
- Report all title discrepancies.
- Maintain knowledge of current DMV laws and regulations for the State
- Run outstanding title reports, review and contact sellers, sales departments, customers regarding outstanding titles, fees, paperwork.
- Processes all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
- Prepares tax and title documents.
- Submits all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Verifies that funds have been collected and the correct lien holder paid off before processing title applications.
- Checks for accuracy in the application and ensures that all information is complete.
- Prepares payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins.
- Bills out all dealer trades and prepares Certificates of Origin.
