Summary


The sales manager oversees new- and used-vehicle inventory and sales.
 

Core Responsibilities


Supervise, hire and train sales team, and acquire or order new and used vehicles.

Sales manager may be required to:
  • Establish measurable performance goals using gross and net profits, unit sales, etc. for monthly, quarterly and annual targets.
  • Inspire and motivate team to attain sales goals.
  • Evaluate each team member’s performance and productivity.
  • Use merchandising and displays to promote sales of new and used vehicles.
  • Develop sales campaigns, and monitor factory-sponsored programs.
  • Review budgets, market and sales projections.
  • Attend manager meetings.
  • Coordinate activities between sales and other departments.

In addition, sales manager should:
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Be capable of speaking with customers or employees; reading/understanding manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety regulations; and writing financial/marketing reports and other correspondence.
  • Be professional and courteous in attitude, wardrobe and grooming.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
 

Education and/or Experience


Bachelor’s degree from four-year college/university, two to four years work-related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Manufacturer Training
