Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for maximizing the profitability of the Parts & Accessories Department while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, inventory management skills, and the ability to connect the Parts Department’s performance to the success of the dealership.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the Parts & Accessories Department
Ensure department achieves budgeted gross profit and net profit goals
Maintain proper inventory levels, tracking, and controls
Partner with the Service Department to ensure smooth and timely parts flow for work orders
Ensure all parts are properly received, tagged, displayed, and stored
Oversee special orders and backorders, keeping customers and service staff updated
Develop promotional campaigns to drive parts sales in conjunction with Sales and Service
Provide professional, prompt, and courteous service to customers in person, online, and over the phone
Recruit, hire, train, and coach department staff; manage scheduling and performance reviews
Ensure compliance with dealership policies, safety standards, and Harley-Davidson brand guidelines
Prepare regular reports and forecasts for the General Manager
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in a dealership parts department (motorcycle or automotive)
Strong leadership and inventory management skills
Knowledge of Harley-Davidson parts and accessories preferred or ability to quickly learn
Experience with point-of-sale and inventory management systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; dealership management software experience preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver’s license and motorcycle endorsement preferred
Passion for motorcycles and the Harley-Davidson lifestyle
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Regular handling of motorcycle parts, boxes, and equipment
Work near moving mechanical parts, noise, and chemicals
Compensation
$70,000 base salary
Performance bonus opportunities with earning potential up to $96,000+
